Black Students Ordered to Sit in Back of Bus
08.28.06 (8:04 am)   [edit]

Nine black children attending Red River Elementary School in Louisiana were directed last week to the back of the school bus by a white driver who designated the front seats for white children.  The situation has outraged relatives of the black children who have filed a complaint with school officials.

Of course, of all places for this innocent to take place, this has to be conducted in my home state of Louisiana.  What was this school bus driver thinking?  Has he not heard of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) or the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)?  I am completely outraged about this type of behavior, and I am a white guy.  This just cannot go on in this day and age.

From my understanding, this is still under investigation, and the driver will remain suspended until some conclusions are drawn.  I think this is completely bogus.  This guy needs to be fired with no questions asked.  He broke the law and totally discriminated against black kids and should lose his job and reputation over this.  This is completely and utterly unacceptable.  I would love to see the ACLU get involved to make a statement to all people who think that doing something like this is allowable.

Hmmm... This doesn't sound right. Wonder if it wasn't racial at all, or if their race was just incidental to why they were being told to go to the back? I can't imagine a bus driver pulling a stunt like this these days. This sounds like something that was reported too soon... Hope so anyway. I'd like to hear what the bus driver has to say about it. Something tells me there's a good explanation. If not? Zowie!

He better have a good explaination for this or he will be in serious trouble. The case is still under investigation from what I understand.

Me too. He definately needs to be fired for this not just suspended. This is uncalled for.
