Ahmadinejad Speaks To the U.N.
09.20.06 (9:27 am)   [edit]

Iran's nuclear activities are "transparent, peaceful and under the watchful eye" of United Nations inspectors, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday.   He reiterated his nation's commitment to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty as it faces accusations that it is seeking to develop atomic weapons.   The Iranian leader also had harsh words about U.S. efforts in Iraq, saying "the occupiers are incapable of establishing security in Iraq" and every day hundreds of people get killed "in cold blood."

Many argued that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad should not have been allowed to speak to the  General Assembly of the United Nations.  Despite this debate, Mr. Ahmadinejad did speak just hours before President Bush spoke to the U.N. General Assembly.  I believe that he should have the right to speak due to the fact that this is the reason the U.N. was setup.  Its purpose is give a voice to any country that is a member of the U.N.

The main question is what are we to do about Iran's nuclear program.  There has been talks about invoking economic sanctions or even pre-emptive strikes against Iran.  Before you draw any conclusion, lets attempt to get the facts straight.  The Iranian nuclear program was originally started in the 1950s with the help of the U.S. in an effort for Iran to develop nuclear technology.  The Iranian government asserts that the program's only goal is to develop the capacity for peaceful nuclear power generation.

As of present day, there is no evidence to think that Iran is developing their nuclear program for any other purpose than for power generation regardless from what you may have heard from President Bush.  Until we can gather evidence that Iran is developing their nuclear program in order to produce nuclear weapons, we should allow them to make a peaceful energy source for their country.

If later we discover that Ahmadinejad was lying, then lets take the appropriate actions against them.  By appropriate actions I do not mean lets invade Iran and turn this into the new Iraq war.  First we need to have direct talks with Ahmadinejad even thought the President vowed to never speak with him.  If direct talks don't work then economic sanctions brought on by the United Nations should be enforced.  If that doesn't work and we absolutely must go to war with Iran, it needs to be fought 35,000 feet above with precision guided bombing.  Only take out what is necessary and by that I mean the facilities that are producing the nuclear weapons.  There is no need to harm any more innocent people than what is really necessary.  Lets give them forewarning that we are going to attack in order to give the innocent time to get out and still allow us to take out the targets that need to be.

Is it scary that in the future Iran could have the technology to produce nuclear weapons that could possible destroy the U.S.?  You bet it is.  There is no feeling worse than to be scared in your own homeland.  Until we can prove that Iran is producing nuclear weapons, and there are ways, there is no need for anyone to start jumping to conclusion and perform actions that don't need to be taken.  Lets keep this peaceful until the threat really exists.

You're an incompetent idiot. The Nuclear program was started before the Iranian Revoultion you moron. We were a little more friendly with the ruler of Iran then, than we are now. You assert the fact that we have no evidence of weapons making. We also had no evidence of Mr.Hitler's concentration camps either. Boy, I bet those jews wished we would have found some evidence so we could have helped them out.(That was just a side note.) We don't have any evidence because he won't allow the inspectors in to monitor for illegal activity. Man you are right when you say we should just talk with them, because as I remember Mr. Chamberlin was pretty successful keeping Britain out of WWII with his diplomacy. You are even more right when you say we should just take out only what is necessary for making bombs, so then the Iranians can use those sites for their peaceful communes or better yet they can rebuild their nuclear capabilities, while the islamofacists are still in power.
Dear Mr blogger, plz pray to allah and ask for my forgiveness next time you are at the mosque. But plz dont conquer by the sword.

First of all there quickwit, I was right to say that their nuclear program started in the 1950s. The Iranian Revolution occured in 1979 so before you start name calling how about you get the facts straight. Secondly, just because diplomacy didn't work with Chamberlin doesn't mean it won't work with Ahmadinejad. The way it looks, he wants to talk. Just recently he talked in front of the entire UN General Assembly. To me that is a sign that he wants open communication unlike what happened in Chamberlin's days. Thirdly, if we attack their facilities this will greatly dampen their nuclear program. Contrary to your ideas, it doesn't just take a few days or months to build a nuclear facility. This is very long process that Iran is still trying to do. So I say yes, if we take out their facilities, this will greatly weaken their ability to produce anything nuclear for quite some time. After we do then we can sanction them so they cannot receive anymore uranium to enrich. It is very quite simple really.

On a side note, before you come and start making comments on my blog, atleast take the time to formulate a complete thought and get your facts straight. I know this is hard for you to do, but try not to be like your role model President Bush and lets start by telling the facts like they are.

I will comment on your post later, when there is adequate time to give at least a semi-thoughtful paragraph or two. On your LSU scoreboard, I advise that you go ahead and mark the Nov. 11 contest with a "Loss". It will surely happen.

Quite funny there PastorDave. There is no way we are going to lose to Bama. Wishful thinking on your part though.

I will be looking to hear a comment when you have time. They are always welcome.

My facts were straight, however seeing that you can't remember the previous sentence and link it to the next, I am right in calling you a moron. You argument of the Iranian revolution is based solely on the fact that you don't pay attention. If I take the time out of my day to throughly read your post, then I beg you plz shut up and finish reading my comment. Unlike your stupid beliefs of just taking out their nuclear sights, we should replace the totalitarian regime that is over there with a regime that does not seek to conquer by the sword. Coming to the UN means absolutely nothing. If they really wanted talks they halt their enrichment process. They would not try to Pearl Harbor us like the japanese did before WWII. Thanks for your time if you read the whole thing. If not you can take your blog and stick it where there is plenty of room.(between your ears)
