Staffer Resigns from Foley Scandal
10.05.06 (10:52 am)   [edit]

The chief of staff for Republican Congressman Tom Reynolds, Kirk Fordham (R), resigned after questions were raised about his role in the handling of the congressional page scandal, according to Republican sources on Capitol Hill.  According to Fordham, he alerted House Speaker Dennis Hastert's office at least three years ago that congressional pages had lodged complaints about Rep. Mark Foley's inappropriate behavior.

This is shaping up to be a very messy scandal for the Republican party.  There is no telling how high up this will end up going.  All that can said now is that Speaker Hastert knew of Foley's behavior and did nothing.  As Speaker of the House, he has a duty to the House and the United States to ensure the integrity of this branch of Congress, and he simply did not do that.  Instead of doing the right thing, he tried to cover it up and protect his party.

Kirk Fordham (R) resigned because he knew he didn't do the right thing and felt the pressure from it.  He is spilling his guts too.  He is talking to anyone with a microphone and a camera that is willing to listen.  Based on his comments, Hastert's job is hanging on by a thread, and I would not be surprised if he does in fact resign.

Your an Idiot,
You try to make it seems as if the republicans should be ashamed of the actions that were taken by the chief of staff. Maybe you can remember when a democrat got involved with an underling. But yet he kept denying until eventually he couldn't. At least the republicans are taking proactive messages when this shit went public. This is not an excuse for congressman foley's actions. however before you slant the republicans maybe you can remeber," I did not have sexual relations with that woman." That being said there is time for a change in washington. both parties have become very corrupt.
Thank and goodnite

Dear mr jesusisangry
what planet do we live on when internet sex is considered sex. its not sex, however what he did was wrong. lets talk a little about internet sex, if what congressman foley did was wrong (i agree its wrong) based on your facts that it was internet sex with a minor, then are we to prosecute all porn actors who have allowed accidently or not their videos available online which might be viewed by minors. internet sex is not sex.
Having consensual sex is fine with an adult, but not when you are in a position over authority over someone. bye bye

Reply to: Having consensual sex is fine with an adult, but not when you are in a position over authority over someone. Monica was a volunteer for Clinton's BJ. As for authority, I have not seen or heard of any evidence saying Clinton said I am the president Monica give me a BJ.
