Poll Favors A New Direction Is Needed for this Country
10.11.06 (9:25 am)   [edit]

According to a recent USA Today Gallup Poll, 58% of registered voters say they would give their vote to a Democrat in this Novembers Congressional elections.

Other statistics show that nearly 3 in every 10 registered voters said their representative does not deserve re-election.  This is the highest level since 1994.

President Bush's approval rates is 37% in the new poll which is down from a September 17th poll that had him at 44% approval.

Also, for the first time since the question was asked in 2002 which party would best handle terrorism, Democrats favored the Republicans by a 46% to 41% margin.

GOP ratings in the polls have plummeted due to a series of events that have given the Democrats ammunition to argue that the country is in need of a new direction.  Some of these events include increased violence in Iraq, the Bob Woodard book about internal White House discord about Iraq, and of course the Mark Foley (R-Fl.) scandal.

All of these statistics sums up exactly how the majority of Americans feel.  The majority feel that it is time for a new direction.  They feel that a change of power is needed.  Republicans are scared to death of this, because they know exactly what this means.  They know they are on the verge of losing control of the House or even the entire Congress all together.

Don't be afraid to vote Democrat.  You are certainly not alone.  I know it seems like everyone you talk to or all of your friends are conservatives, but let me let you in on a little secret.  The liberal population is growing, and we are beginning to be heard.  The time for conservatism was an idea of the past.  Stand proud of your liberal believes.  Recognize that a change in Congress is definitely needed, and ask yourself this question.  Is it time for me to do what is right to end this corruption in Congress and place this country in a new direction?  If you believe so, just as many others like you do, then don't be ashamed to give your vote to the Democrats.  Stand proud by the fact that you are playing your part by shifting this country back on track and in its long needed new direction.

It certainly does not look good, for the present, for Republicans. Of course, trends can change dramatically almost overnight. I think the Democrats are quite thankful for the timeing of the news of the Foley scandal, and the blundering responses of the Republicans.

I'm thinking it would be good for our country, in the longrun, to overturn our do-nothing Congress. So, I'll not be shocked or disappointed when Nancy Pelosi becomes Speaker of the House. Don't take me wrong; I strongly dislike her politics. But the Republicans have deceived and manipulated true conservatives for too long. I'd love to send them a message.

So would I Pastor. Just like you said, this "do-nothing" Congress has overlooked just about every major issue that is affecting America today. Their session of lawmaking did not help out the U.S. very much at all. It is time for a change to happen and what better time than now.
